This page describes exactly what stitchzoo.com does with data. It is short because the site does very little with it.

What the site does not do

There are no accounts, so there is nothing to sign up for and no password to store. There is no newsletter and no mailing list. The site sets no tracking cookies of its own, and it runs no advertising network, no remarketing pixel and no social media tracker.

Google Analytics 4 is not currently installed on this site. If analytics is added later, this page will say so, and it will name the tool.

Nothing collected here is sold, rented or shared with advertisers or data brokers.

Cloudflare

The site is served through Cloudflare, which sits in front of the server as a content delivery network and security layer. To deliver and protect the site, Cloudflare processes request data, including your IP address, the page you asked for, your browser's user agent and similar technical details. That processing is what lets the site load quickly and stay up under attack. Cloudflare may set its own strictly necessary cookies for security purposes.

The contact form

If you write to us through the contact page, the site stores your name, your email address if you choose to give one, your message, the language of the page you wrote from and your IP address in its own database. That record exists for one reason: so the message can be read and answered. It is not added to any list, not used for marketing and not passed to anyone else.

The form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that the sender is a person rather than a bot. Turnstile receives the technical signals it needs to make that judgement. If the check does not pass, the message is not accepted.

You can ask for a message you sent to be deleted at any time. Write to the contact page or to [email protected], mention roughly when you wrote and what about, and the record will be removed.

The Pattern Maker

This section is the one people ask about, so it is deliberately blunt.

An image you convert with the Pattern Maker is processed transiently to produce your chart. It is never stored, never published, never indexed and never used for anything else. It is not looked at, not added to a gallery, not used to train anything and not kept as an example.

In practice this is what happens. Your image is read, reduced to a grid of colours, charted, and deleted as soon as the chart has been produced. The generated PDF is a temporary render on the server, keyed to the settings you used, so that asking for the same chart twice does not rebuild it from scratch. Temporary renders are deleted within two hours, and sooner once a couple of hundred newer ones have been made. Nothing you upload becomes a public URL, and there is no address anyone could guess or share that would show your picture to somebody else.

Your image stays yours in every sense. The license page sets that out in copyright terms.

Server logs

The web server keeps standard access and error logs: IP address, timestamp, the URL requested, the response status, the referring page and the user agent. They are used to keep the site working, to find broken pages and to investigate abuse. They are not used to build a profile of anybody, and they are rotated and deleted on a rolling basis, normally within a few weeks.

How long things are kept

• Contact messages: kept while the conversation is useful, and deleted on request.
• Pattern Maker uploads: not kept at all. The source image is deleted as soon as the chart is produced.
• Temporary chart renders: kept as a cache for at most two hours, then deleted.
• Server logs: rotated and deleted on a rolling basis, normally within a few weeks.

Children

Plenty of the patterns here are made for children, but the site is written for the adult printing them. It does not ask anyone for personal details, it has no accounts and it has no public posting of any kind, so a child using the site does not hand over information to it. If you are a parent or a teacher and you believe a child has sent us something through the contact form, write to [email protected] and it will be deleted.
