What is a counted pattern?
A counted pattern is a grid where one square means one stitch, one bead or one pixel. Each colour has a symbol printed in its squares and a key that names the thread, so you work square by square and count rather than measure. The same grid serves cross stitch, perler beads and pixel art.

- Download the PDF and print it at 100 per cent on A4 or Letter paper. Black and white at normal quality is enough.
- Find the centre of your fabric and the centre marks on the chart, then work outwards colour by colour.
- The finished size printed on each pattern is measured on 14 count aida. Finer fabric makes the same chart smaller, not shorter.
Why these charts are actually stitchable
A chart is only useful if you can count it. Every pattern here is drawn on the grid it prints on, with heavy guide lines every ten squares, numbers down the left and across the top, centre marks on the edges, and a symbol in every square that survives a black and white print at normal quality.
Every design on this site is drawn here, square by square. Nothing is traced from somebody else's photograph or artwork, nothing is lifted from another designer's chart, and there are no licensed characters, because a pattern made from somebody else's art is a derivative work of it. That is a stricter line than most pattern sites draw, and it is the reason everything here can be free.
